I was in Atlanta today and I stopped,, to speak to a few drivers thats on my top companies to drive for after cdl school next month (Schneider and KAG) but after I told them that I wanted to ask some questions about their companies because I'm starting school and wanted some extra info they said "NO FIND SOMEBODY ELSE"!!!! Now these guys were just cleaning their mirrors and neither seem to be in a hurry but I guess they were too busy for me because I only have a cdl permit!!!! Is this normal fellows??? I know you guys will answer All questions but its a little different when you see someone Face To Face with the company truck that you hope to be in Real Soon!!!!! I made myself a promise today that when I get to be an Experienced driver that ill answer a question or two and if I don't have time ill just say "make it fast"!!!! But hey that's just me!!!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Great Answer!

I hope this thread isn't being perceived as an indictment on Schneider. They're not my company, but as far as I know, they're a good and fair company, one that is more respectful to new drivers than other companies.

The fact is, the kind of people who post on this website, drivers who are helpful and proud of what they do, they are in the vast minority of what you will see out there. The people who will post here are people who love the job. The vast majority don't, they are in it for the money, they are selfish, rude and unprofessional, they set a gallon of **** next to the fuel pump, and they are the reason you have to take a 30.

Every company has that driver in vast abundance.

You need to have thick skin and a big stick out here, regardless of what company you're at.

Was going to call them tomorrow and see how they are. Already talk to Daly's, CDL of GA, L.L.C., and Atlanta Truck Driving School. Have to think of drive time. You know Atlanta driving.
