I can't see this being a huge detriment to your driving career. Most companies know that a student is going to make minor mistakes, it just comes with the territory. I ran over a car my first week out in a big truck and Schneider National didn't fire me. (but that was 20 years ago) If this company is going to let you go this quickly, then maybe you should look for another.
We have had many a trainee literally tear some equipment up and they have kept them. Its part of being a rookie. I do not think they will fire you but perhaps make you watch safety videos.
RedGator is right. They won't fire you, but you most definitely will have to watch a safety video. You might get a small talk by the Safety Department but it won't be anything to sweat. But I can guarantee you that you'll have to watch a video of some kind.
Just be apologetic and professional, you'll be fine!
I got some good advice from you guy last time so figured I would stop in and see what you all had to say about my cituation.
I decided to take some good advice and stick it out with company that I was trainning with well everything was going good until today I took a misjudged a turn and hit a reflector on the side of the road with the trailer no damage was done to the tralier but my trainner had to report it they pulled me and we are heading back to the yard which I know means I am done.
Have I ended my chances of ever working in the industry again?
Travis, I feel ya. I was solo for 2wks and was pulling as looking for a place to park at a pilot in Birmingham, AL. I was making a turn down the main aisle and forgot about the off tracking of my trailer. I ripped the grill and bumper off a parked truck. I was sick. I followed all company policies and procedures in reporting it. Nothing ever came of it. Safety departments know you're gonna make mistakes, you are processing a lot of information and everything is still new to you. Just learn from it and move on. Everyday is a new learning experience, good luck
