I was wondering if anyone had info on the Schneider Dollar Tree account. Is it a good account? Do you honestly make good money? How is the home time? I am currently driving locally , home every night. But my company health insurance is very expensive, and they don't contribute to your 401, and honestly the pay could be a little better. So, I was just wondering if this dollar tree account is worth It. Any input is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Welcome Duke!

Man, I worked the Dollar Tree account for US Xpress and it's brutal. Now I don't know if they still do it the same way, but we had to unload one box at a time onto a set of rollers. The box would roll down the length of the truck and into the building where the store employees would stack it. If they're still doing it that way it's one h*ll of a tough job. Very few people last more than a few months on that account. I lasted a year and made $62k that year but it was pure insanity. I ran like mad. We were on paper logs so you could write down whatever you wanted to. You could have never turned the miles I did on that account with electronic logs.

But I averaged unloading 100,000 pounds of freight, making probably 6-10 stops, and drove about 2,500 miles every 5 days and back home on weekends. I was lucky to get a few hours of sleep every night.

But regardless, that account is brutal. It's great money, but I wouldn't approach it as a long term idea. It's really not a sustainable job in my opinion. The money is pretty good but it's back-breaking work, tons of difficult places to get into, and a lot of people get injured on that account with boxes falling on their head, back injuries, wrist injuries, etc.

But of course you don't have to stay on that account for long. Get on with Schneider, give it a shot, and see what you think. If you don't like it, transfer to a different division. Should be no big deal.

But find out if they're still unloading like that. I think Dollar General does it in big rolling totes instead of hand-unloading which is obviously 1000 times faster and easier. Werner was one of the main companies holding the Dollar General account back in the day. I don't really know the situation today.
