Wow, now that's an interesting question I've never seen asked and am curious about since you brought it up.
I will say that the main purpose of team driving is to keep the unit moving, therefore generating revenue for both the company and drivers as well as being able to provide better service with a longer range.
The only team local positions I know about are physical deliveries that require lifting. I used to do local straight truck work and some of the companies that I worked with had teams for white glove service, usually residential deliveries. One driver and a driver helper. You don't really need two drivers if you are home every night.
