I've been with Prime now for 7 months and literally don't have one negative thing to say about the Company. Now on a wish list I wish we had a dedicated route in the Tampa Bay area but as far as how the Company is run and delivering on what they say, not one complaint.

I know this is kinda hijacking, but, I am in the Tampa area as well. Does Prime hire from this area?

I am kinda stuck on Prime myself. Also, I am pretty sure that they do pay for your bus ticket. I also know that they will give you $200 a week for food. They will take out of your check after you start working. I think it is $25 a check.

But, please call a recruiter to confirm! Good luck, and maybe we will be in training together!

Dedicated Route:

A driver or carrier who transports cargo between regular, prescribed routes. Normally it means a driver will be dedicated to working for one particular customer like Walmart or Home Depot and they will only haul freight for that customer. You'll often hear drivers say something like, "I'm on the Walmart dedicated account."

I just want to cry right now lol. I know they pay for your ticket home if you have to leave for whatever reason.

But for the love of Optimus PRIME and his fellow Autobots, I can not get an answer out of anyone.

Please, I'm begging somebody lol.

Does Prime, or ANY company, pay for you to get to the school?

If no one knows then I'm just calling a recruiter tomorrow lol.

Mariah,

Yes, Prime does provide you with a bus ticket. I would however insist on going to Springfield MO for your training, not Pittston PA (which by the way is a lot closer but not as good of a facility in my opinion). But you might have to go to Springfield because you are a female (please don't take this as an insult). I have been to both terminals and can say that I much prefer Springfield over Pittston any day of the week & twice on Sunday.

Hope this answers your question for you.

Ernie

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

You should call a recruiter anyways but, this question was answered in the company sponsored training link in my first post just so you know. And on Prime's webpage under student driving. Knight also has a payment during training program. Many company sponsored programs offer various perks and many cover the bus there as well as hotel. A lot of them hold you responsible for food while you're there. I'm a very much "teach a man to fish type." And heavily advocate doing your own research, searching and reading the forums, go through the high road training program on this website. All of your questions are answered in forum posts alone.

As far as the weapon question, there are a lot of laws in various states, counties, cities on using an obvious weapon (knives, guns)with the intent of causing harm that are not in favor of the victim. That said, anything can be a weapon without being a knife. I can't carry a weapon at my current job but I carry a police flashlight (long handled and heavy), an airhorn, and my head held high. I don't get messed with because I don't act or look like a victim.

Company Sponsored Training:

A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.

The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.

If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.

Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.

I'm hoping to go to Primes company sponsored school in MO.

I applied online today, I'm calling a recruiter tomorrow, and I'm a nervous WRECK lol.

See I got some anxiety problems, nothing I can't handle but still lol.

How crazy hard should I be reading the bible of the cdl manual?

I also have no money at all right now, how's that gonna blow over going to school?

I've studied the first bit and know rules and regulations pretty dang good, and driving safety pretty well, but not much else. v,v

But I can learn, FAST, I'm just nervous about everything and anything lol. Money, family, safety, knowledge, guuuuh lol.

Be safe!!!
