I got this short load, 52 deadhead miles and 160 loaded. My DM sent a message that he will add $62 to get my minimum of $150 for the load. I wasn't aware of this and not sure if the reefer guys get a similar deal.

Easy day today, guess I'll do some laundry and get caught up on some sleep. I can't deliver till tomorrow morning so relax time.

Deadhead:

To drive with an empty trailer. After delivering your load you will deadhead to a shipper to pick up your next load.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

I got this a couple weeks ago. Zero miles from one place in downtown Chicago to the next 01 in downtown Chicago to wait all day to get loaded. Then 198 miles to the 90. 50 bucks for the three piece tarp job. 22 bucks in "equalization" pay to get me to that 150. I wasn't impressed.

Me too. All that, plus Chicago. You'll get something to make up for it, I bet.

I drive in the Reefer division and do get a similar deal as well. I DH 40 miles to 01 and then had 125 loaded miles the next day to 90 and my FM added $65.00 to compensate for short miles. I'm also a company driver.

If you drive in the god forbidden Northeast then you'll get this alot. One of the list of many reasons I can't stand going up there.
