Prime should take so many new students if they can't service the ones already here. People waiting for two weeks for an instructor.

Do they give you the freedom to practice on the sim or out in the yard?

Yeah. Simulator from 7 to 1130.. Alternate between simulator room and learning lot for pretrip. Then out to print east for the same thing you did for half the time in the morning. Stare at a truck to memorize pretrip.

How's it going out there? The main forum has had discussions about finding trainers and my take away from those was to actually seem like you want to be there, treat every one new you meet with the same respect and professionalism as everyone else (don't complain about the training, seem interested, don't bring up taboo subjects like religion, politics, or whatever else. You never know who might be a trainer.) Don't hole yourself up in your room, try to be out practicing pretrip or sims or trying to learn period. Basically it all comes down to be eager to learn and keep yourself visible while you're being eager to learn. Your location can have an effect on finding a trainer sometimes as well. Good luck and let us know how it's going!

I have done all you suggested. I now have an instructor. In three weeks I'll be looking for a TNT driver.

TNT:

Trainer-N-Trainee

Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.

The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.

The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14ยข per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.
