Unless your purposely standing right next to the person while they smoke and engaging directly from there then you should be OK.

I don't do drugs and if someone does it and they are a driver I hope they get caught. I am fine with whatever people do in private time. More power to them. I am absolutely against any and all illegal drugs in someone's system that is involved in driving a truck. If it's in their system that should be enough to jail them on the spot.

In order to test positive on a drug test you had to either exhaled, ingested or absorbed the drug somehow. It just does not happen by accident.

Curiosity has struck me and I did some search.. there seams to be some talk on 2hand weed smoke conflicting with a hair test... I myself don't smoke, never have, but I am around people who do... This is an article I found, wanted to see if anyone else had something on this....

2 Hand smoke

I been doing a lot of research on the privacy invading hair test. I been out of trucking for 5 years and about to come back. Been doing apartment maint. and I go in there homes to fix whatever they need. Many, many times I walk right into a cloud of pot smoke or see the stuff sitting right out in the open. From what I have found out marijuana residue from the smoke stays on furniture, clothes, towels, ect... for months. It can also get in your clothes and hair from being there. I do not smoke and have no problem with a ua or blood test. But this hair thing needs to be banned NOW. I was worried sick I would fail it just from being around it so much and not about to take the chance. I was to the point of making appt to get one done on myself just to be sure. You can do that. Its not as much as people think. I been getting my DOT Phys card renewed every 2 years at Valley Occupational Medicine in Roanoke VA. They will do the test for an individual for 70 dollars. That's the only way to be sure that I have found.

Honest truth though. I would rather be on the road with someone that smoked a joint the night before and went to bed with a good nights sleep than those who put down a bottle of liquor then get up and go still half drunk. Sad thing is that alcohol will clear out of the system by the time they have to take a test. same for all the hard drugs you don't have to worry abut them showing in your hair if you do not use but that's not true about weed. It will cause a failure if your around it to much. You sit on a heavy pot smokers couch (assuming they smoke in there house) and it is going to contaminate your hair.

So if you think you could fail that test my advice is get your own test first to know for sure.

I'm not around it a lot. This particular time I was playing cards and thought they guy was rolling a cig, turned out to be a joint and being stuck on the wall aside of the table, was pretty hard to get around it.. I don't think this one time will cause issue though.. I use to work at a drug rehab program so I got a lot of Info from the ex druggys..

Fancy a full body shave? 1894638795_small_1_display_image.jpg?130 Don't forget to pluck the eyelashes, or that nose hair.

double-quotes-end.png

Sorry Steve but if you are sent for a hair drug test but have no hair at all you can't do the test and its the same as a refusal.

OK I'm drug free but I keep the hair on my head very short. Will that be am issue or can they take an arm hair/ leg hair etc.

guyjax(Guy Hodges)'s Comment

They can take arm and leg hair or armpit hair. the test only needs hair. does not matter where it comes from

SOBER-J's Comment

Exactly right. On both. Doesn't matter how much hair you have and if you think you going to shave everything that's a no go or refusal. Unless of course you have that medical condition causing you to not grow any hair at all. Then you will have a Doctors verification for that.

There is a youtube clip that is a labs promo for why companies should use the hair test. It shows that one of the first things they do when they get your sample is chop it into tiny pieces. Then the solution then the test. Not that hard to find if anyone wants to.

J,

My wife is a former federally licensed drug tester. She and I have talked about this extensively. All of these test are looking for the metabolized form of the drugs that they screen for. Not for the drugs themselves She put it like this: "If you gave a urine sample, and someone, for whatever reason, put cocaine in the sample to try to get you to fail. It would not come back positive Because, there not testing for cocaine. They they're testing for the metabolite of cocaine."
