Just wanted to get some drivers views on Tran Am? Was considering the move from Swift to Trans Am.

I personally cannot recommend Trans Am to anyone. They tend to push the lease extremely hard and I'm not impressed with their pay. In my opinion, there is nothing more annoying than a company who shoves the lease program down your throat when you're clearly not interested.

I have heard that about them also Daniel. Swift does the same thing, they want you in a lease as soon as you get 60 days OTR with them.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Trans Am has really nice equipment, but typically the mega companies with really nice equipment will pay lower wages. What I mean by 'really nice equipment' is equipment with a lot of extra bells and whistles, like trucks that come with fridges, etc... You can have companies that have new equipment, without the extra bells and whistles, and still pay some of the best wages for truckload, e.g. Prime Inc and Crete / Shaffer.

Why not try Prime or Crete / Shaffer? Shaffer is the reefer side with Crete / Shaffer. Trans Am is a reefer company, so why not go to another mega carrier like Prime or Shaffer that hauls reefer and pays much more? Between Prime and Shaffer, Shaffer gives you roughly the same wages as Prime, and you don't have to take a lightweight truck ( Prime Inc pays higher wages if you take a lightweight ). You can't go wrong with Prime or Shaffer for a reefer carrier.

I know drivers that choose Trans Am BECAUSE of the nice equipment, even though they know they aren't getting paid as much as they could at another carrier. To each their own. It all depends on what you value.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

This is some Very Good advice...You can't pay bills with Bells and Whistles....show me the money
