I'm curious about anyone's perspective that is currently teaming with US express, the good, the bad etc. I ask this question fully understanding the general (negative) consensus here (at least from what I've read) regarding teaming. I know it has its drawbacks. The reality is that I've spent many years in a team environment in another industry and am at least willing to explore the possibility here. I feel like with the right partner who is eager, hardworking, open to compromise and is reasonable that keeping the truck moving with a positive get-it-done attitude would be an environment I'd appreciate and enjoy. I am fully open to the idea that ultimately I will find myself wrong about the concept. Again, I've heard and read the negativity about teaming from those not currently doing so. My interest is in the experience of those currently teaming with US express and/or perhaps Schneider. Thanks.

I start with US Xpress on Monday for orientation. I am going to be teaming with a guy I met in truck driving school. I looked at tons of companies both from the solo point of view and from the team point of view. I agree I have heard numerous negative things about team driving. Having to sleep while in a truck that is moving. (I can fall asleep anywhere.) Spending more time alone with someone you barely know, or dont know at all than you do your family. (We hit it off immediately in trucking school, team players always find a way to work through problems, plus we live six miles from each other. Home time will be much easier to deal with because of this.) I found US Express has the best pay, especially if you have Hazmat and tanker endorsements. Great equipment. Great sign on bonus. Now, let me revisit this when I am done with my training and we get assigned our truck. It could be all bs spewed. But, I kinda of doubt it. US Xpress is really focusing on finding team drivers. I will keep you posted.

Great, and thanks for taking the time to reply. I will be interested to hear your perspective once the wheels get rolling. I have engaged the company very briefly and they suggest applying a week or two prior to graduation. In the mean time I will continue to gather information. Congratulations on finding someone you feel good about working along side. I'd imagine that indeed is one of the primary challenges.

I'm also interested in giving teaming a shot. It will be nice to know as a rookie that there is someone else around and I never had trouble sleeping while moving years ago. I was really leaning towards scneider, but with so many choices I just don't know. Prime pays better in training, so that's a huge concern. I simply can't make the bills on $400/week and being on the road.

Hey Sue. I see you were in heathcare in days past. RN has been one of my several careers. ER, step down, med surg and last stint was in drug/etoh rehab ( as RN, not patient).... No thanks. I'm glad to be free of all that. Maybe we should bump down the road together telling great stories!

Team driving is not that bad you hardly see one another unless you are sitting on a 34 restart.... I've done both solo and team and I like team driving better Cuz two heads are better then one....

That's kinda what I was thinking, Scott. Only problem sleeping would be on I-40 in Arkansas hahaha. If those roads don't wake you up, you're probably dead from what I recall.
