Bryan "Convention Services" is an offering Swift has that is a bit of a Dedicated Hybrid. You are dedicated to a select group of customers basically moving freight from one event to the next. Early in my Swift career I ran for about a month moving "Disney on Ice" from one venue to the next. The question I would ask? "Are you assigned to a single "show" or "event" and if so how are you compensated for the time you are waiting between unloading and reloading for the next gig." Most of these conventions run for days requiring a day on each end for setup and tear-down.
Here is the website link for Swift Transportation Convention Services
Swift Transportation began operations in 1966 transporting imported steel through the ports of Los Angeles to Arizona and Arizona cotton for export back through to Southern California.
Jerry Moyes, founder, began with the same entrepreneurial, can-do spirit that is one of Swift’s core values today.
Today, Swift generates over $4 billion in revenue and operates nearly 18,000 trucks.
I have read that multiple times G-town. What where experience doing that ? I always thought it would be cool to haul stuff for big productions.
It was good gig...they tried to keep me running local stuff to limit downtime. That's how I was introduced to Walmart Dedicated, ran several loads for the Winterhaven Florida DC. I was on the Disney gig for 3.5 weeks and then Walmart Dedicated.
The loads tend to be on the lighter side, 20-28k...which is good, easier to keep moving up hill. Backing at some of the arenas was challenging. Birmingham AL was memorable...blindside angled dock, off the street.
I think you'll like it. Worth a try. That's the great thing about Swift, almost limitless options. I'd definitely line up your questions for the recruiter, but only after you formally apply.
Good luck.
