So it's perfectly reasonable to say, "Listen Mr Boss Man, I'm willing to sacrifice some of my time to operate your truck in a way that makes the company more money if you're willing to give me a little cut of the extra profits."

Exactly! Yeah, I think fuel bonuses just make alot of sense, especially for companies with hundreds or thousands of trucks. Even 1 mpg difference for just 200 trucks can easily result in over a million dollars in savings each year, so why not? It would have almost zero effect on dispatching since we're required to take a 34 at home each week anyways.

Maybe *some* companies *require* a 34 at home weekly, but most don't. I've been driving every day for nearly two months now - without doing a 34 - and I don't intend to stop for another several weeks.

Yeah most don't. Mine does just because of what we do. We start in CO and haul freight east, then haul furniture back from somewhere around MS back to CO. It's just easier for them to have us reset each week so we always have hours.
