I believe that is a question best answered by your cardiologist. I'd start there.
What type of heart pump? I am more curious than anything. I don’t know of a heart pump. If it was a pacemaker then yes you can drive with approval from Cardiologist (obviously that’s a blanket statement not knowing your history or medications) but if a defibrillator was also attached (many are 2 in 1) then no you can not drive. But only your doctors can determine if you are healthy enough to drive.

Hi All! Just popping on with an odd medical question
But first:BACKSTORY
I just got my class A in August 2017 through Roehl’s cdl program. (Great program from my experience btw)
Well I absolutely loved trucking until I started getting worn out. By mid December I had to quit as I was to tired and miserable to continue. On December 26 I was admitted to the ER and was diagnosed with heart failure. Over the past few months they have tried various treatments and 2 weeks ago I underwent open heart surgery to have a pump attached to my heart.
So the question is this: Can I drive with the heart pump? And/or the meds? And what is the fmcsa book I can look at to find these answers?
Thanks everyone for your time; D. Ward
