That would definitely be a deal breaker for me too. I don't smoke and would not be able to be around a smoker in small spaces. I can't stand the smell of cigarette, cigar or pipe smoke. I'll be sure to let my recruiter or whoever is in charge of such things know this. I don't want to be assigned to a trainer that smokes. Just couldn't do it.

When you get here you’ll fill out a form that designated smoking or non, that way they can place you accordingly! My situation was just weird because I put that i didn’t care, because I didn’t think it would bother me considering i used to be a heavy smoker.

It’s no problem Dragon!

Thank you ice! You’ve been a good help to me through this. I feel good knowing that people are getting anything out of this and are here to help me through my journey also

So far I’ve just been studying and watching people practice backing on the pads in my day time, waiting for a new trainer. They kind of weren’t happy with me switching so last minute, but I didn’t really know what to say besides I didn’t know that it would be an issue. So now I have a new roommate and he’s a really cool guy. I’m helping him through his initial PSD experience as best I can while I wait on another trainer. Again, I’ll keep updating.

Thanks guys! !

The following is from Prime's website:

Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.

  • Enter program, study and test for Missouri CDL permit.
  • Start driving/training at Prime Training Center in Springfield, Missouri.
  • Work toward 40,000 training dispatched miles (minimum) with food allowance while without CDL (Food allowance is paid back with future earnings).

Just wanted to bump this and see if you have another update for us yet?

I do! Sorry about the delay. I got a new trainer on Tuesday and he’s a really nice guy. He dips but doesn’t mind my vape. We’ve been in SpriMo because of a class he had to take and then waiting on a load. We were going to leave this morning but the load hadn’t shown up yet so we’re just hanging at Millenium for tonight. We should be on the road by tomorrow morning! I wanted to get a jump on this one and head out tonight but I was told they don’t really like throwing PSD students directly into night driving, especially from 1-5 am, so we’re gonna wait it out. We’re going to Nevada, and we’ll have until Monday night to get there so we have plenty of time to make it. No rush. Should be smooth sailing from here! I’ll try to update more often, I’ve just been doing a whole lot of sitting and waiting the last few days.

Completely understandable.. This will be a very busy time for you for sure. Sounds like a nice run going out west with plenty of time on it. I am sure you will enjoy that. Best of luck I know you will do fine and keep the updates coming as you are able to.

Thanks, Ice! My only complaint is I spent all of my remaining cash on dinner so I don’t have any quarters to play pool with right now! Haha.

Congrats and welcome to Prime. I've neglected to follow the diaries lately, so this one got by me till now. You're probably on the way to Nevada by now, so just know that another Primate is following along with you. I'm in the flatbed division.

Definitely keep us updated and ask any questions when needed. Good Luck!
