Hey Scott, welcome aboard!
Okay, you've got 2 DUI's there's no trick to getting around that. You are going to be hindered somewhat, but not completely disqualified. I would start out by trying to get on with all the Paid CDL Training Programs first. Do it with the expectation of every one of them saying no thanks. You might get lucky, and I think it's worth a shot. Be upfront and honest. Don't try to hide anything.
If that doesn't work then start working through this list of Companies That Hire Felons. These are companies that will sometimes give you a chance even though you have made some mistakes in the past. What you want to get from these folks when you start applying is a pre-hire letter. Here's some important information you need on the practice of getting pre-hire letters.
Try to gather a minimum of three pre-hires and then start working on finding a Truck Driving School to attend. It is important that you get the pre-hires first. The schools will be glad to take your money even if you can't get hired after getting your CDL. Stay in touch with us and we can help you through the whole process. You won't be the first we've seen get past their hindrances and progress on to enjoy this career.
It will be tough, but it can be done. It's going to depend on how determined you are. Here's a little bit of good news for you. If you follow those steps I laid out for you and get a job, you have cracked open the door to a rewarding career. It is important that you Stay With That Company For A Full Year. Once you get a year or two of safe driving experience under your belt, you are going to be surprised how some of those companies who won't give you the time of day now, will perk up and show an interest in you. The whole reason you become interesting at that point is because you've proven yourself both willing and able to handle the rigorous demands of the career.
Hang in there and be tenaciously persistent. I've been there - I know what I'm talking about. I got sent home from three different company orientations when Iwas trying to get this career started. Talk about rejection! Today, I am considered extremely valuable, and my employer will do just about anything to keep me on board.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.

I would like to know which of these can make you ineligible to obtain a CDL license. For instance if you have a first offense dui in one state and a 1st offense dui in another state, both being in a personal vehicle. 1 dui over 10 years old and the other about 8 years old. Would this still be considered a 2nd offense? I've been reading where majority of companies will not hire if more than 1 offense. I realize I was an idiot many years ago but I've always wanted to do something like this and wondering if its even worth the time to pursue or just hang it up and move on in another direction. Currently a seven year supervisor in retail management and hate it. Just looking for helpful advice.
Thanks...
