I have a local job, have been working for a week but I will be laid off around November. Is there any decent companies that would put me OTR? With out any cdl schooling?
Morgan, yes there are companies that will hire you without school. I am currently doing the same thing, I go for my skills and road test on 9/16. I just got pre approved for a regional job. They told me to give them a call once I get my CDL-A, and they'll schedule my training asap. I also have a buffy that was hired by a big company without schooling. He's been there 9 months now and he is the 1 that suggested I do the same. You just have to look, apply to a bunch and there will be ones that will offer you the training, without school
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol program regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.
