I always preferred mileage pay simply because I knew what I was getting for the miles I turned. When you're paid a percentage you have to take the company's word for what the load pays which is obviously a huge conflict of interest.
If you do get paid percentage simply keep track of the actual paid miles you're running and see how it averages out per mile. As long as it's reasonable it doesn't really matter if you're being paid percentage or cpm.
Here's a hint for you also - when a company gives you the option of which type of pay you can receive and they're pushing one type over the other, you can be sure there's a reason for it. Like I know TMC offers mileage or percentage pay but they strongly encourage you to take percentage. Now why would that be? Seems to me that reason isn't going to be, "Because we want our drivers to make more money!" Certainly not.
Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.
Ok thank you for the info and quick response . Very understanding
