I just got fingerprinted yesterday. Can I take my exam before TSA contacts me or don't have to wait for my backgrounch check to clear? Thanks

In Idaho, I was able to take the written test for the hazmat , then a few weeks later when my background check came in, I went in and had them add the endorcement to my license for like 10 or 15 bucks.

HAZMAT:

Hazardous Materials

Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations

Thanks! I wanna try and take my HZE before I leave next week OTR. This way I won't need to worry about trying to find time off on a weekday. I better start studying!

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

It will vary by state, call your local DMV to find out. As I recall in New Mexico they wouldn't let me take the written test until I had my TSA clearance paper in hand.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

DMV:

Department of Motor Vehicles, Bureau of Motor Vehicles

The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.

I also got fingerprinted yesterday for the Hazmat endorsement. Illinois doesn't allow testing before the background check is complete, either. I went to the NJ DMV website to check on their requirements, but it really isn't clearly stated if you can test beforehand.

In Minnesota you could take the test, then return with your TSA letter to get the endorsement added.

USE the High Road practice test b4 you test out...... I scored a 96 ( 1 wrong) and it was due to the practice testing!

In NJ you have to have the fingerprinting/background check complete before you can take the exam.
