Hey Bad bob, I just finished my phase 1 training with Roehl this week, starting my 14 days OTR tomorrow afternoon. What i can tell you is i have had nothing but positive experiences so far with Roehl. Everyone there is on the same page and will treat you with respect. I am very excited to start my next phase of training. If you dont have your CDL yet i would highly recomend going to their CDL school. They are a great company and will teach you how to be a safe professional driver. If you do have your CDL their phase training programs are absolutely great. They will teach you a lot of great things on how to drive a truck. hope this helps

Joe

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Hey Joe:

Thanks a lot. This does help. Right now we are based in Florida and I'll be starting my CDL schooling in January. I was an OTR driver over 20 years ago but let the CDL go. I regret that now. When I do have the CDL I am going to contact Roehl as they do sound very good. Anyway, thanks a bunch for the good info. Information is invaluable in this world.
