Yeah, I've seen some bad reviews of it too. I've only stopped there the one time, but there didn't seem to be anything to the bad reputation it has. Of course I could have just stopped there on a good day.

Sounds a lot like swift... they get all kinds of bad vibe, drivers and company a like, but then you got to swift drivers and the company is not all that bad. I can't saything good or bad about the drivers, only seens a handful of them on the freeway and nothing bad to report. we'll see what happens when I start trucking and notice them more.

I'm curious what started Swifts bad rep in the first place... like they have it worse than any other company.

EPU:

Electric Auxiliary Power Units

Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices

Phox is surprisingly curious:

Disclaimer: I drive for Swift.

C'mon, Phox, you've been around TT long enough to know that most collection of reviews for any major company will come out negative.

Nothing "starts" a bad reputation, only a bunch of angry drivers.

Like most of the larger and even the smaller trucking companies Swift got as big as they are because they are good at what they do, including drivers. Just like any company also, there are good drivers and not so good drivers.

Yeah I know you drive for swift and from what I can tell you are happy with them... so if negative reviews are from disgruntled (usually former) drivers, the fact that swift has so many makes me wonder, why... why do they have so many angry drivers compared to prime, knight, rohel, etc? my youtube suggested videos box will give me easily 5 swift bashing videos for every 1 of any other company.

I'm sure they are a good company and it's probably the driver's fault they had a bad experience but I have to wonder why swift has so many.

the only reason I'm not giving them a chance is due to their lack of a pet policy. Otherwise I would probably consider them.

I also wonder why all the other drivers not working for swift bashes the drivers of swift, you know I'll be watching a trucking video about something and a swift truck will start backing in next to them and the driver of this video will be like "oh no better watch out we got swift coming in next to us", but you never hear that about other company's drivers.

What did poor ol swift do to get such negativity around their name?

there are no perfect drivers, and no perfect dispatchers, fleet managers, etc. Personalities clash. Some people may be trying to cover their arse, so the driver, unfortunately sometimes gets the short end of the stick. Swift is the LARGEST Transport company in the world. They didn't get that way by accident, but, because of it's largeness, there is a greater chance of these things happening, simply because of the many many many people who work, and drive for them. Sometimes it is the driver who tries to do everything right, runs his/her butt off, and gets along great, but still gets slighted, but they usually are the ones who quietly leave, and find a better fit, with another company, and continue on successfully. The biggest complainers, are the ones who can do no wrong, but refuse loads, are late for drops, or pickups, and have a Super Trucker attitude. Most negative reviews, it is easy to read between the lines.

Dispatcher:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
