Being on the registry are you able to travel at will and cross state lines?

Yes I can travel with no issues. I'm not on the upper tier of the registry.
I would say call the recruiters, be honest and ask around. You didnt say how long ago the conviction was. If its something that is 15 years old, and you have been fine since, then you might have a chance. Sex offenses are taken very very seriously (as you know) and most of these trucking companies are getting an influx of women drivers. Because of this, they are amping up the "sexual harrasment will not be tolerated" policies.
I'm a woman and I know that things happen, and a guy could wind up on a sex registry in some states for urinating on the side of the road (which i bet some people on this board have done)... which is completely different from "I went to jail for raping four women and two twelve year olds". You know your situation, so be honest and ask. It's better to try than not to. I met a guy who did time for attempted murder. Another did two years in jail for terroristic threats to commit bodily harm.
I've been told to be honest up front which I've done with the jobs I have now. However I realize that trucking isn't just a job it can become a career so I'm just looking for any and all additional advice that I can find.

Prime really seems to take things on a case by case scenario. I say that with respect. I love the company, but they pay BIG money to find things. There were people in my class that tried to lie about things or "omitted" things because the items were supposed to be expunged. Prime found expunged things and it made the person look like a liar. The lying was worse to them than finding a DUI from 10 years ago. I posted in another thread that my schizophrenic sister filed a complaint against me, claiming I chased her with a gun. I was a federal employee and had federal documents proving I was at work at the time of the alleged incident. they got a search warrant anyway, but found nothing. The complaint which was a domestic court complaint was dropped when she attacked me in the court house and violated our restraining order. (she'd been attacking me for 3 years at this point). I was told it was expunged.
That was in 2010. She's been dead since 2011. Lo and behold, Prime asks me why i did not tell them about my arrest. I was never arrested. But.. in NJ if they issue a warrant, they log it as an arrest on your record--- go figure. I should be able to sue regarding that. Their issue was more the "you didn't reveal it" than "what/why did you do it". Either way, it was not a conviction which is what they asked about, not arrests. Of course, this is a much lessor offense than being a registered sex offender. The issue might be the "keeping tabs on you". Do you report regularly or something? Are you subject to searches? Are you not allowed around children? Prime has a day care center in the terminal... would that be a problem?
Worst case scenario, you call the recruiter and he says "absolutely not". Best case, you get a job.

However, one thing did just cross my mind... I went to Prime and they made me change my residency from NJ to MO to get the permit. Once i got my license, i would then told to transfer it to my home state. Sooo... in addition to finding a company that would hire you, you would also need to find a way around the change of residency thing. Maybe find a company in your state? Otherwise, you would have to change to another state temporarily, register there, then transfer back. How hard would that be?
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
Driving Under the Influence

I was in my pickup truck bring my GoldWing back from a job in San Jose to Vancouver, wa, had to pee so bad I could taste it.. Pulled over on an off ramp, walked around the front of the truck to the passenger side, had the wife open the door and stood in front of the door and let her loose..
While I was 'shakin it' I looked up and there stands one of Cali's Finest sayin "I can't believe this.. You couldn't make it to the next exit or stop at one of the rest areas 2 or 3 exits back?" I told him I was a disabled vet, etc. etc, 53 y/o, have to pee all the time..
He said if anyone had seen me doing it, he could arrest me for public nudity but, instead he was just going to write me up for disposing of an toxic substance on a highway or something.. Anyway, it cost $259.00 once he quit writing..
A retired cop told me he couldn't have done the sex offender unless I was in the process of, shall we say, "enjoying the feeling", maybe "sporting a woody" and pointing it in the general direction of the accuser..
Anywho, I know what you're sayin about being on the lower tier.. As I said I'm now 55 y/o man and I actually almost filed a sexual harassment charge at a place I was working. This woman about 3 times my size kept getting all touchy feely with me.. Walked up behind me when I was on the phone and ran her nails down my back.. Still gives me the heebie jeebies.. I think I'm suffering from PTSAD.. She had told my bosses daughter that she wanted to make her into an Oreo cookie with her and her husband.. I don't EVEN want to know what Urban Dictionary says about that one..
Driving While Intoxicated
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
So, have you had any luck?

Hey all,
I'm looking for honest feedback in regards to getting my CDL. I am unfortunately on the sex offender registry for a non violent charge and want to find out if anybody knows if it's worth it to go through training? Will I have a hard time finding a job that isn't OTR? I live in Delaware and have been thinking about either PFG or Sysco. Should I call the companies directly and ask?
Any positive feedback is appreciated.
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
OTR:
Over The Road
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
