Well that sucks!
"The west side of the bridge has pulled away from the abutment connecting it to the river bank's edge, lifting up about 60 centimetres. As a result, police have shut down Highways 11 and 17 at the bridge, which is located about 100 kilometres northeast of Thunder Bay, Ont."
Must be too effin cold!
I tell you, it is quebecians that are wanting to break away and take more land with them... But never fear.... Help is on the way.
I'm not sure, but something seems a bit off with the securement of that coil, Pat.
Additionally, the place where the bridge failed is in the province of Ontario. It's little bit past half way between Quebec and Manitoba, so Quebec would be grabbing a lot of land there, eh?
The engineering solution to open up the bridge - put trench plate on the bridge, lots and lots of trench plate (Jersey barriers for some of you).

You have obviously driven through Pennsylvania too... A coil of duct tape.

That's because you can't see the doubled up duct tape under the roll. I know exactly where the bridge is, convenient place for them to split the province and gain some land...lol The duct tape is to hold the trench plates in place.

There is only one west-east highway in Canada that crosses the Nipigon River, and its bridge is disabled. No vehicle traffic can reach western Canada from eastern Canada, and vice-versa, while this bridge is out of operation. Trucks and cars are stranded indefinitely. Some traffic may be able to reroute through the USA, this will add twelve hours to a journey for those in Nipigon that need to back track to go around.
