I will be going my cdl permit and dot physical in about 2 weeks than be sending out pre hires but here are my questions
1 can I have a inverter installed in my truck 2 same with a apu 3 if say I in Texas and on reset vacation or say they say they won't have anything till tomorrow can I go and see the town do stuff 4 I have bad credit will in affect me getting a job 5 what are your expenses on the road

1 and 2 depends on the comany. I'm with Prime and we have then in ours
3. yep.. my trainer took me to Disney world and shopping malls in california while waiting for loads.
4. Nope... bad credit is not a big deal
5. Depends on where and how much you are eating. Figure out you will be put 7 days per week. I usually keep my spending to $10 to $20 per day.. but I dont smoke
You are not getting in your own teuck right away. Any company is going to give you a training peruod. Expect to be on the road for a bit before you get your own truck
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
DOT:
Department Of Transportation
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

APU:
Auxiliary Power Unit
On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.
Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.
