This sparked an interesting question from me: When, while doing your pre-trip, is an issue enough to call and have them fix it?

Air leaks of any kind,if dot finds them, is enough to get you placed Out Of Service until its fixed.

I'd say the overall answer to this is "when it's a safety issue." Safety is everything out there. Anytime you see anything that has the potential of being a safety issue you get on it right away.

Some companies are truly picky about how their trucks are kept. So its kinda different company to company. I agree with Brett, if its a safety issue, it has to be fixed asap. But for other things....like your speedo falling into the dash..I'd be calling..only because it will sit there and mash everything else, and could cause a fire. I'd document everything with my dm on qualcom. Then, if they don't send you in for a fix, its on them. Its their truck, after all. But safety is at the top of the list, always.

SAP:

Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
