Good report, Shiva!
Good to hear things got better for you. The number #1 issue I worry about is getting a bad trainer, or "finisher" as XPO/Con-way calls them. I'm an education junkie (another "Thank You" to Brett for The High Road Program) and there is just so much you could learn from a good trainer. I would be sorry to see such a unique opportunity be wasted. So I hope for the best, and take courage from your experience that I can get through the worst.

Went to Henderson academy for 4 weeks, with a trainer for 6 weeks and have been driving solo for 8 weeks. I am now enjoying trucking. It was hard at first, 10 weeks not being home. I got homesick, very bad. I almost quit during training 3 times, I was very depressed and my racist, jerk of a trainer was probably the main cause. Although, I did learn a lot from him, he's still and @$$!!0/3. Now that I'm on my own, can go home every 2 weeks, I'm getting good miles and the good pay that goes with that, I'm enjoying this. However, once I fulfill my obligation and get a year of experience, I'll be looking for something more local, at the very least regional.
Thanks
Regional:
Regional Route
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
