Started Saturday Feb 20th 2016. Drove from San Diego to Chelsea Mass with Trainer partner. Dropped off a load of oranges. Drove to Bordentown NJ empty through New York city over the George Washington Bridge. Picking up a load in the morning and heading to San Francisco. Seems like a good start. Plenty of miles anyway. And yes I almost had a heart attack driving through NYC with all the road construction!

Scary yes. But I've had a CDL for 2 weeks so no worries!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Wow! So much for breaking you in slowly, right? Just take your time and remember the golden rules - never panic and don't hit anything. Anything that happens is just a great story to tell your friends someday as long as you don't run into anything.

So just for grins pick up another load after San Fran and head back to the East Coast. LOL. Gotta love the miles though!

Hoping to get enough experience and miles to get a nice home weekends job in Oregon in 3 to 6 months.
