With regards to the snow and ice falling off the trailer issue, don't forget about the accumulations under the trailer too. Ice can collect on your landing gear, rear bumper, etc. If it gets too big it can fall off right in front of some unsuspecting motorist. I've heard of DOT giving tickets for that.

I woke up in a bad blizzard yesterday. Called my fleet manager right away and told him I wasn't moving until the storm passed and roads were cleared. He was happy with my decision and all he asked was I give him updates through the day and am eta when I can move again. Best decision I have made in a while. When I started today I saw 15 tractor trailers in the ditch on my route. nothing is worth that. Nothing.
Fleet Manager:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
