It will eliminate some companies but overall I think you'd still have opportunities to succeed
I agree with Parrothead. Something you could do is call recruiters at companies you are interested in and lay the situation out for them and see what they say. Some companies have a no DUI policy but plenty of them just have a 3-5 year policy. Do some research and ask around.

My hopes were up of being a trucker and now not so much. It's pretty disheartening. I'm guessing the best thing would be to see if I can get any prehire offers or get a company to hire and train me. I have some contacting to do
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.

Hey don't give up! I went to CDL school with a guy that had 2 older DUIs like you and he got hired by western express. Call around and check out the company reviews here. A lot of them tell you what their DUI policy is.
It's not over till it's over. If you really want this then keep trying!

I'm not giving up. I got both dui's in the same night almost exactly 14 years ago. The only thing I've gotten in trouble for since then was a ticket for not wearing a seat belt. I think I still have a chance but it won't be easy. Nothing has been easy in life

A few weeks ago I realized my employer is looking to replace me. The first thing I thought about was getting my CDL and driving truck. I got on some other forums and asked about it and asking if my 2 dui in 2002 would be a problem. The answers I got that they won't be since it's been 14 years. The last ticket I got was in 2009 for not wearing a seat belt. I drive about 60k miles per year for work mainly since 2009 in a company van. I was thinking of going to trucking school but I don't want go waste $4000 if I can't find a job afterwards. The more I read online the less likely it seems that anyone will hire me? Any advice or thoughts? Thanks
