Im.a prime rookie and company solo driver.. not lease. I stay out 6 weeks and get home for 4 days. Company policy is you earn one day for every week out but cannot take more than 4 days at a time. Supposedly they "bank" my 2 extra days so if I want to get home more often I can.... as in "I stayed out 6 weeks.... am taking 4 days off then 2 weeks later taking another four days" but I haven't tried this. No problem getting home on the dates I give... but I give my FM the dates 3 to 4 weeks ahead of time. He appreciates this.

Prime also has a southeast regional my friend drives in reefer division. KY to NC and down. She lIves in GA and gets home unofficially more often cause she can park at a stop close to home for her breaks when feasible. I don't think this regional goes up to virginia.... but you can ask a recruiter. Either way. .. prime won't have a problem as long as you give them notice. In a family emergency they are extremely good. They let me fly home for a week while in training when my mom needed surgery.. no questions asked. My friend wife was in car accident in coma and they told him "we can get you routed home or you can fly and we will have someone pick up your truck until you get back on road".

Understand that if you don't request hometime no one will do it for you. I went home Feb 25 then Apr 14. No one told me "hey you have hometime available". I just tell them when I feel like it. I'll probably not take it again until Jun 6 so I can go home and vote.

Remember that hometime is UNPAID. Sooooo... it is easy to be in the negative when you take it. Health insurance life insurance etc.

Hope this helps

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

I live in Manassas and am currently at Prime. I'm about to go on the road with my trainer to complete my driver training before getting my truck, but VA in general is on their routing and I was told home time would be no problem. But Rainy D was correct. Prime offers the least home time of any company, but they have the highest start pay as well. So it will just depend on what your priority is. You're basically looking at 4 days home for every month you're out, no more.

If you need the name of a recruiter who can answer specific questions for you, let me know. My recruiter talked to me numerous times before I pulled the trigger and signed up with them. Super helpful and will make sure you understand everything perfectly. Good luck!
