Yes had a little too much fun in hilton head...will this prevent me from participating in prime or Stevens company sponsored cdl programs? Small non vehicular charges, but fresh...any input is greatly appreciated!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Being that recent could very well harm your chances with any company I would think

In the near term it probably will prevent you moving forward with Prime and/or Stevens. Damian,... how could you let something like this happen?

You were obviously interested in a trucking career based on the 3+ weeks you have been a member of the forum and if you have read any of the material on TT, you also know the consequences of your actions. This will not bode well for your chances. Trucking companies screen applicants based on work history, driving record, health, and criminal background. They are looking for people capable of exercising good judgment, making decisions grounded in safety, and definitely not someone who recently pulled a bender resulting in 2 infractions, one of which is a misdemeanor.

Not sorry for cutting you no slack, but frankly are you really truck driving material? In the wrong hands an 80,000 pound CMV is a weapon. I suggest you look deep inside yourself and decide what is more important; drinking yourself stupid, or having a future career in trucking. Until you can make that commitment, any further advice is meaningless and a waste of time.

CMV:

Commercial Motor Vehicle

A CMV is a vehicle that is used as part of a business, is involved in interstate commerce, and may fit any of these descriptions:

  • Weighs 10,001 pounds or more
  • Has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more
  • Is designed or used to transport 16 or more passengers (including the driver) not for compensation
  • Is designed or used to transport 9 or more passengers (including the driver) for compensation
  • Is transporting hazardous materials in a quantity requiring placards
