After calling around to a couple more companies and checking with them. I've decided to go with prime. Recruiter had said that prime has a regional program for flatbed and that intrigued me. I dobut I'll be able to jump right into that like he said I figure I'll have to be our for a while. But orientation is the 1st. Of August so 3 weeks away. I'm busy in tail and gonna try to go take my cdl permit test Friday so I don't have to do it in orientation.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

Have you taken advantage of the Highroad Training Program on this forum? If not I would highly recommend that you do so! Good Luck!

It's my understanding that Missouri won't accept CDL permits from other states, so depending on which Prime location you are coming to for training, I'd check first. Good luck!

Kat, if you had noticed, he is from MO. So no need for him to wait. Just sayin....... Also, he will more than likely be going to Springfield for his orientation and training.

By the way Dirt Pit, the regional that was mentioned for flatbed you would be dispatched out of Duke OK more than likely from the Gypsum plant there.
