Man really you've nailed it. Other than your efficiency in load securement & trip plan you're kind of at the mercy of your load assignment and the loaders or unloaders. one thing I always do though when I get to a consignee , usually the night before, I'll casually ask if there's a chance of being unloaded that night.
The customer the freight is being delivered to. Also referred to as "the receiver". The shipper is the customer that is shipping the goods, the consignee is the customer receiving the goods.
Yeah I've done all I can, it feels impossible to get home Friday unless everything lines up. Unfortunately my delivery today has a strict policy on appointment times. Could have delivered at 6am when they opened but have to wait till 4pm
Well you could always come over to McElroy. If you ever do decide to change just let me know. Stay safe.

Hello everyone. I've got a question for you vets out there, specifically flatbedders. I've been with maverick almost 4 months now and things are going well. I'm making good money and couldn't be happier with the company. I run hard and safe, taking anything they throw at me. My question is, what are some things I can do to improve my home time? I'm lucky enough to get home weekends. I aim for Fridays but have only pulled it off twice. I understand it depends on freight and my efficiency securing, tarping and driving. Any suggestions?
TWIC:
Transportation Worker Identification Credential
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
