Sorry your day was so bad. Next time things start to go south like that, STOP. Take a breath and get some positive thoughts in your head before you continue on. Good luck.

I've been on my phone with my FM a lot today, mostly because I've been at this Tyson plant since 10:30 am this morning and I'm still not loaded. (It's 7:45pm now.) She was apologizing and explaining to me how detention pay works and I said it was all good, and that at least I'm not hitting any fences while I'm sitting still. rofl-2.gif

Yep meat loads usually make u wait... me and u know who sat for 27 hours at liberal ks once. Omg.. she went nuts. I think they kept us there longer cause she called them every half hour. Just go in sleeper and get sleep at those places.

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

It's kinda like getting a new car, until it get the first scratch you are worried all the time. Now you got that fence and it is over with. At least you did it on the first day to get it out of the way.

But really, when you get that flustered, just pull the yellow knob and get out of the truck for a few minutes. That is unless you are traveling down the road, then pull over first.

I was at our terminal in Pa. and some old guys that had been driving awhile asked me if I had hit anything yet and I replied no.. They said well when they get done working on it just hit something before you leave and just get it out of the way.

Endure the suck. It gets better with time.

Also keep joking with your DM and don't think he or she won't pull some bonehead stuff later so you can hand out the jokes rather than be the butt of them.

But hey you still seem to be with us and dealing with being a rookie. You don't seem to be on the fence.😀

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

It's funny looking back on that day now. Things have been going so well ever since then!
