Just pulled into the Jurupa Valley terminal and the weekend is in full blown chaos mode. I have never seen it this bad. Not only are there trailers blocking nearly every lane, there are multiple stacks and stacks of flatbed trailers piled on top of each other. LOL

I just need to get out of here in one piece. I'm supposed to be heading to Phoenix for 3 days of time off. LOL

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

I made the mistake of pulling in there to do a 10 around midnight several weeks ago. Had just made a delivery about 2 miles away.NEVER AGAIN!!!! I don't know who is in charge of that mess, but something has to be done about it. Total F###ing CHAOS.

I'm waiting on a pre-plan and of course there weren't any empty trailers at my drop. I actually had trouble finding a place to park a bobtail. I'm afraid to leave the truck and i get some sleep because I know sure as spit I'll wind up blocked in by one of these knuckleheads. LOL

Bobtail:

"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.

Yeah..... Why is it so difficult to find an empty sometimes. Don't they all have GPS transponders on them. It sure isn't difficult for them to find their TRUCKS!

I did the same on 4th of July had to hook to some trailers to get them out of the way of load I was grabbing. Better off spending $20 at ontario haha.

Honestly, the sad part is they can't even tell you what empties are available on their own yard. LOL

Well at least J V can't. I like the way Phoenix handles it. You check in at the fuel station and you drop your empty over at a designated spot.

Nice! JJ

I was actually told by a DM from JV to "find an empty in the yard". He clearly does not know how his own terminal operates. Every trailer coming in gets a bolt seal or Enforcer lock on it. Even the empties. How can anyone tell if a locked trailer is loaded or empty? Jurupa is so different (worse) than all the other terminals that is like a whole different company.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Maybe the New CEO Mr. Richard Stocking needs to take a good look at how poorly that Terminal is being run. Sometimes a good shake up in Management is necessary. I went to school at the Phoenix Academy, it is also my Home Terminal. It is run very well. Sounds to me like it is time to drag the old "Chopping Block" to the JV Terminal. I can't imagine how many thousands of hours are lost/wasted at that terminal. I has to translate into millions of dollars in lost productivity annually. That is a HUGE HUB for Swift and freight in general. I am sure all of the big Companies monitor these forums. Well Swift Monitor, here is your chance to make a productive change in the Company.

Probably a good thing I don't have a load this morning. Sure as heck I'm blocked in from both sides. Of course so are about 50 or so others. LOL

Well I managed to chase down one of the yard dogs to get the trailer out of the way. I'M FREE! But I still don't have a load to Phoenix yet. Supposedly there is a serious shortage of freight heading out of So Cal right now. Nice! LOL
