I don't think your credit report weighs much into hiring with most Companies. They are more concerned with Employment History, Driving Record, and Criminal Record.
Austin, I've heard rumors of companies checking credit reports but I'm not sure if any of them actually do or not. But there is no chance whatsoever that a poor credit history will keep you from getting a job if you have a clean driving record and criminal record. Most people that are getting into trucking are doing it because they really need a new career. So most people are low on funds and many have had credit issues so that's no real concern at all to these companies.
I believe most companies will pull soft inquiries which gives them limited Access to your credit report. They are less interested in the credit aspect and more interested in the personal backround areas. It confirms your previous addresses employers ss# etc.
I have extremely poor credit and I had no problems getting hired. Not one word was mentioned about my credit problems.
Thank you everyone.
Don't be a stranger Austin. LOTS of great resources here. Good Luck!

Do companies check your credit before they hire you? If a potential driver has a perfect driving record, no criminal record, etc could a collection on your credit report ruin your chances of being hired?
Thank you.
