Rainy D, do you get trained by Prime on all these side duty for reefer? I just got accepted for orientation there.

You will learn reefer operation while on your trainer's truck.

Also, if you have any questions on how the reefer unit operates that your trainer can't answer, just ask one of the guys at the shop. Not only will they have the answers, they may even know some secret things your trainer never even heard of.

^^^^ this

i just fuel it, pretrip it and push buttons to set the temps. im not a mechanic. i know drivers that will change belts, climb up the wall and add coolant and more. the heck.with that. im not a mechanic. if it needs a mechanic, i get it to a terminal or dealership. they arent blaming me for breaking anything!!! lol

A forum member once posted that a driver tried to.scare her into believing she needed to know the inner workings of an engine for the reefers and needed to repair them roadside. no way. i dont fix the reefer anymore than i fix the truck. and i get paid for repairs downtime and mileage to get the repairs.

its not scary. lol

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
