I'm not sure what it takes to get on with UPS or FedEx to be honest with ya. In fact, in all the years we've been running this site I can't think of anyone that got on with either company. But I know you can't just sign up and start driving their rigs. You have to work your way up and jump through all kinds of loopholes to get up to that position, at least at UPS. But yes, the rig drivers make excellent money.
But we've had some people go with Con-way and they're a really good company.
Fedex drivers are paid good, but you will get stuck and your start pay for about three years. They are very big on safety and you will be required to attend safety seminars on a regular basis. One of their instructors is a member of my church. He is actually working with a consulting company that Fedex contracts with.
They treat the rig boys good though. Benifits are great.
UPS. Well....they have that GPS in your truck and watch you like a hawk. Two more church members are retired from them. I hear all the horror stories.
Conway. I've heard nothing but good and have known only one driver from years ago. They do work hard. But a good company too.

I was curious if anyone here has had some experience with companies like UPS, FedEx, Conway, etc. I know Fedex hires out of my area regularly for doubles drivers. I know their home delivery guys make good money and bennies but I wonder if there rig drivers do to.
Doubles:
Refers to pulling two trailers at the same time, otherwise known as "pups" or "pup trailers" because they're only about 28 feet long. However there are some states that allow doubles that are each 48 feet in length.
