Good luck RT! I'm glad to see yet another positive review of Prime's training program, I just talked to a recruiter this morning and I'm giving it some serious consideration. From my own research they seem to be one of the best options for new driver's. Any tips and ticks, thoughts or advice you might give a prospective Prime company driver trainee such as myself? Hit a home run tomorrow bud!
Thanks bud! Prime's training is very fast paced, my best advice is to get as much rest as you can during training. It helps you stay calm and collective when you have a ton of information thrown at lightning speed! I know some days I was completely overwhelmed, tired, hungry, and pushed hard! That's how trucking is though! The OTR PSD training makes your first week at Prime seem like kindergarten (but before you get to that phase, youll be thinking week 1 at the campus is really intense, because it is!) Everyone is really supportive and helpful here. Talking to drivers will help you learn all sorts of info! Also, Study, study, study that cdl prep stuff, if you know it before you get here it will make your stay alot less demanding! On youtube there is a channel called: Prime Driver Jacob, who runs through your pretrip stuff and will have you ahead of the game when it comes time to go out with your trainer. Expect a little scolding from your trainer at first, but know once you pick it up, theyll be someone who you can always turn to for advice and knowledge, but they do go hard on you at first (you might even be treated as if your supposed to know the answers to questions your asking them lol) but be patient, listen to them without emotional attachment to words, and youll sail right through to the good ole open road....or clusterfudged citys, but good luck on choosing a company, I can tell ya that Prime is definitely a safe bet for a great experience!
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.
Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

I passed with a Trifecta!!!! Onto my TnT phase!!!!!!
Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.
The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.
The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14¢ per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.
Way to go Ricky! Congrats. Stay focused, stay safe and stay professional. Ha, there's another trifecta for you to master.

Ahh, it seems like yesterday I was in my PSD classes getting white badged, eagerly awaiting friday to get clearance to go to the millenium building and enjoying Northstar Grille! I've become very friendly with the staff, but this article is going to surpass all that intro stuff, because tomorrow, is the big day....Testing! Its what I came for, all the hardships, all the obsticles, all the dedication. I learned alot while on the road with my trainer. He pushed me and tested my pressure level hard and made sure I know my stuff...If you cant take a little yelling every now and then, you wont make it, but after you prove yourself to these "trainer folk" they really grow on you and become a source of encouragement and insight! Poor guy has been busting his butt to get less runs so he can bring me into the big leagues and I appreciate everything hes done for me and the sacrifices hes made to be a trainer (I'll never have that kind of patience) He showed me how to Pre-trip, show me how to shift, showed me how to climb mountains and slope grades like a champ. Today we are reviewing my 2nd practice of my road test (which is intense and netve racking, but I'm going to get through it) My goal is to nail that trifecta as proof that Prime Inc.'s training is the best experience Ive had of learning in my entire life (and slso to help this trainer of mine get some sickkkk new graphics) But yes, to all of you out there who have helped encourage me, and shown me the way, I cant thank you enough, and I look forward to posting my results tommorrow, and hey, if I dont pass tomorrow, Ill keep going until I do. Keep your heads up and ears open guys, youll learn something new everyday, if you ever stop learning, you might as well hang your keys up and turn your truck in THAT DAY!!!! Stay safe out there! And good luck to anyone else whos about to put your skills to the test!
