Thanks guys! Tractor Man, when I woke up this morning there was a Watkins & Shepard truck parked right in front of me. Schneider keeps messaging me about them hiring in our areas. Could have been a sign. LOL

Try to stick out the 1st year Jim J. I really believe it will pay off.

Jim 4 months isn't that long. I cannot stress enough that the relationship with your DM needs to improve and like it or not it's on you to make that happen.

Try to stick with it...be persistent and I think you will begin to see improvement. Your other option is take a closer look at Dedicated.

Good luck.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Swift will not allow a person to be a DM unless they have experience as a driver. There may be exceptions, but I am not aware of any.

I'm not trying to pick a fight but my DM was never a driver. She's been with Swift about 20 years though so policies could have changed. She's also the best DM in the world.

I think this is spot on. When I first met my DM she told me that I would be driving a Swift truck but working for her. I always did my level best to do what she wanted. When I would encounter a problem, personal or professional, I would take it to her first and seek a solution. It really paid off, (and I learned that here on these forums).

Thanks Rob, now I am aware of an exception.
