Well I start CDL School tomorrow it has been a month since I made the decision to go to a private school. Tried the company sponsored and got turned down was very disappointing but now I see it has really work out for the best. I can continue driving a school bus and go to school too. I have applied with three companies and have gotten two pre-hire letters and the third looks good. I have three other companies that I will be applying with over next few weeks. Today I took care of applying for for my Hazmat background and got my finger printing done so hopefully before I finish school I can go ahead and get my hazmat endorsement. I plan on getting my other endorsements when I go to upgrade my CDL B to an CDL A permit. Things are beginning to move now and I am a sooo... glad. I have studied the High Road CDL training now for almost two months I do practice test at least two to three times a day plus I keep re-reading it and also reading the Georgia CDL manual at the same time and I also do a specific Georgia CDL practice test which goes along the Georgia Manual so I figure doing both of them reinforces the material even more. I still like the High Road Training better it is excellent. So if every thing goes as planned I may be on the road with a driver trainer by Christmas. I've invested so much time, energy and money in this it would a great way for me to end up the year. I will try to post my days at CDL School as I go along.

Pre-hire:
What Exactly Is A Pre-Hire Letter?
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
A Pre-Hire Letter Is Not A Guarantee Of Employment
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.
