Mr. M, I love my position at Knight running flat-bed. It is a dedicated account for the SAPA plant in Delhi, Louisiana. I know they run some other flat bed accounts in other parts of the country but I don't really know much about them.

SAP:

Substance Abuse Professional

The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol program regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.

Is flatbed division something they keep private? I am interested in starting with Knight but everything I see on their site is about reefer and dry van.

Dry Van:

A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

Hey Rui, their flat-bed work is a dedicated account which they usually bring their well known and dependable drivers into. They also like you to live near the plant they are hauling for. You could always talk to a recruiter about it. It's a pretty well kept secret though. I have been to a few terminals where they weren't even sure I was with Knight, and didn't want to let me in the gate! (My truck has the dedicated customer's logo on the door instead of Knight's logo) It is a very small division within the company.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
