I don't understand why you'd get near the end of the program you're in, which you're already going to have to pay for, and then talk about leaving to start over somewhere else where you're then going to have either more tuition or an employment contract to work through.

You also must be thinking, "I'll just quit the school I'm going to right now and pay them back whenever I can. In the meantime I'll go to a different school" which is probably going to put you into collections by the time you're able to start paying them back, hurting your credit in the process. So what you're talking about doing is just digging yourself into a deeper hole.

You said in your original post:

During the summer I could've gone to a local community college sponsored truck driving program in St. Louis for free. I went through a few of the steps to enroll in it, but then stopped because I'm an idiot and didn't like the fact that I had to take some reading and math tests to get into it (stupid, I know). I kept missing the deadlines for registration for the classes and dragging my feet just being a stupid idiot.

Obviously you're not doing yourself any favors in the decision-making process these days, to put it mildly. You're never going to get anywhere until you commit to a path. You're already far enough down your current path that you're getting ready to test soon for your CDL and you're already on the hook for the tuition. So commit to the path you've chosen and get the job done.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Agree with him ⬆️. Really think you need to try and finish this out. If you're planning on a career in this business you're going to have to learn about commitment and finishing the job.
