Patrick B is new, not dumb:
This is gonna be a really dumb question, Whats TA? lol
TA is the name of a truck stop chain. TA and Petro are the same company, and Flying J + Pilot work together. Then there's Love's. They are the nationwide chains, of course there are also regional and "mom and pop" operators, too.
Fun fact: "TA" stands for TravelCenters of America, but that name just doesn't fit on a sign easily.
Easy asnswer, TA didn't start out meaning that. Originally it was Truckstops of America. Hence TA. Dang political correctness / fancy words. Same reason Dispatchers are called everything but a Dispatcher.
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
