Who Will Hire Me?

Hi all,

I was recently in an accident involving ice where I jack-knifed my truck. I was working for Schneider at the time. They deemed this incident as a preventable accident and terminated me for it (12/2016). Prior to working for Schneider, I started training with Pam Transport. One my 1st day driving with my mentor, I hit a ground pole next to a building with the skirt of the trailer (05/2016). It is also on my record.

I have had my Class A CDL since April 2016, I have 1 month of training experience with Pam Transport, 3 months of driving a straight truck for FedEx and now 3 months of experience driving with Schneider. I am just starting my job search for a new company and am wondering if anyone knows of companies that will hire me with my limited experience and 2 accidents on my record. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks! Melinda

CDL:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Did you get fired from PAM? Why did you leave? Did you leave on good terms or could you try to go back? I stayed with one company the first year as is recommended just because job hopping can look irresponsible and indecisive. Is there anyway you can talk to safety at Schneider and ask to go back out with a trainer?

I'd try everywhere....but I know a guy who jack knifed and went to CRE. Another went back out with a trainer for 10k winter miles which is why I suggested it.

Try the app link Patrick posted and good luck.
