70 would have been even messier than 80. Donner was a mess, even in mid-afternoon.
And 80 isn't looking all that great even today.
There's a NASTY SYSTEM that's in, and still coming. Donner might lighten, towards mid-day - depending on how the systems rolls through. The southern (70) side of the system looks even worse going over the hills, than the Donner side.
Local Donner I-80 Traffic Conditions - It's still open (God knows why), chains from the state line, through Colfax.
50 is a two lane road - it's chains most of the way through the hills and NOT THE PLACE I WOULD WANT TO GET STUCK or go off-roading with a TT. It's a deathtrap - which is why most companies don't let their guys go through that way.
If you got shut down in NV - I'd stay there until mid-day and see how things clear.
With the storm on seeing on the radar/satellite - , you may be there, through the evening.
Be SMART - STAY SAFE.
