Congrats that's great. And in response to rick in Nebraska I was able to have hazmat test and background all done with only a permit the DMV just wouldn't put the endorsement on my permit but when I went into get cdl everything was done so hazmat was on cdl from day 1.

Sorry, I was away for a few days.

Thank you for all the congratulations and well, the comment to Rainy was because I haven't actually been in a truck yet (well, not driving one...I've ridden plenty of times!)

And Rick, this was South Carolina.

They do, indeed, allow you to test for HazMat when you get take the other tests for the permit, but the endorsement will not go on your permit (or CDL for that matter) until you do the background/fingerprinting with TSA. (In fact, the only endorsement that shows on a SC permit is Tanker. The rest will show up on the license.

I was giving the address to go to for the background and fingerprinting and told to go a few weeks before I road-tested tested for my CDL so that I'd have the letter from TSA saying I was clear and they could place the endorsement on my actual CDL license once I pass the road test.

Let me know if I wasn't clear. I feel like I rambled!

They allowed you to take the HazMat endorsement TEST, even though you were just taking your PERMIT TEST?

Rick, In AZ you have to pass the written test before you go to a 3rd party Contractor for Fingerprints and Background Check.

Well, I have driven a truck now.

It was amazing. And scary. And exhilarating.

I topped out at about 5 miles per hour and got all the way to third gear (well, I did pop it into fourth by accident a couple times).

I made all sorts of bonehead mistakes, but with the help of the instructors, I didn't hit any cones or barrels.

Practice tonight and tomorrow again and then the obstacle course test on Thursday. Wish me luck!
