At my company they did not have you take the study until you passed the CDL exam. Then they gave you the test. If you need a machine they sell you one with a modem that updates your usage to them.
It was paid by company and paid back weekly
What's the sequence of how they deal with this?
Company physical & med card is always going to come on Day 1. Do they issue a 2 year card - and flag you for a sleep study, after you finish PSD and test out? So you pass your CDL - they do a sleep study, issue you a machine - and send you out for TNT?
I was under the impression, once diagnosed - you had to demonstrate 30 days of compliance, before they let you back OTR?
Rick
Prime gives you a two month DOT med card on day one to drive with the permit.
When you test and get the CDL, they then schedule you for the sleep study.
After the sleep study you get another physical for a new card. Either a long term if you passed, or another short term to get compliant with the machine.
I passed so didn't need a machine and got the two year card. If you need a machine, you go on the road with the machine in the trainers truck. They can monitor you daily to see you are compliant.
Then you go back for another physical and get a two year med card (assuming you have no other issues. Bp and other problems could make it 1 year).
The test was $500 at $50 per week and the machine was $600 at $50 per week I think.
I was told that when I renew my med card if I gained weight I would have to apnea test again. If I didn't, I could get another two year card.
