I have been with swift for 1.5 years and can't seem to get to the gold level for mileage increase.

I have 100% on time and no crashes , accidents or tickets Everytime I get close to the 102000 miles in a 52 week period, I end up sitting on a load for couple days or waiting for a new load resulting in a low mileage week. It seems to happen every time I am out (usually 5 to 6 weeks out, 5-6 days home) Today, I am waiting on repairs to my truck. At the end of these bad weeks my total miles in the 52 week period goes down.

Has anyone had experience with this? Has anyone gotten gold without the mileage requirement?

I dont want to leave swift (this is my first driving job). I didn't intend to go from one company to another, but others are offering higher pay.

Have you talked this over with your DM? I was Platinum from about my second month as a solo driver until a preventable accident, then Gold after that. I didn't do anything special to achieve that status though. I just drove where I was asked to drive.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

I was the same as Rob, platinum almost immediately, then Gold after my preventable. I maintained hold for almost a year until I got on this Target account where we don't get ranked. I miss those quarterly bonuses :(

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Did it take a year and a half to get to the gold level? Am I expecting it too soon?

Thank you for your replies.

Admittedly I'm still new. I was Platinum in Jan, but Feb had dropped me to low gold.. I'm currently stuck out west and there is like zero freight. My current load is a 550 miler. pickup on Fri, del Monday.. I asked about tcalling as I could have made it to Albq by tomorrow night, but everything is still backed up.

I know as a new driver I'm not supposed to refuse loads, but I don't think I can afford to go into CA anymore. Nothing but 300 mile runs and then planning for an hour or two of your driving hours to try and find a place to park.

I constantly hear that about the west, even in the summer, but I been averaging 2500 a week. One thing I accepted when I first started was that I'll run California a lot, honestly never thought I would say this, but other then the parking situation I don't mind it. I'll honestly take Los Angeles over Cincinnati any day haha.

Are you aware of the Mac 30? It shows you available loads and another thing send a mac 10 when you empty out, it sometimes may put you higher on list for loads. I do it all the time and end up leaving Jurupa and Lathrop before any other drivers do and it may be because I mainly do west 11.

Either way, you have to be aggressive for miles sometimes. Don't be rude, but you gotta be stern.

I do understand about the miles. But how long did it take for you to get to gold and MC1371, how did you get to platinum so soon and how long did it take to get to gold and then platinum

They already answered it for you. I was Platinum around my 2nd month solo and then gold pretty much the rest of the time. I am now bronze because of my preventables. How much do you average a week?

I am averaging about 2000 miles per week. I will get weeks at 1500 then the next will be around 2500 or higher My total mileage towards gold went down by 2000 on monday.
