Just looking for some advice and pointers from some of the older and more experience drivers.. I also need all the tips and help for safely driving driving a standard shift... I did pretty good in CDL school driving a standard but I would like to hear some advice from some real drivers!! Thanks in advance guys!!! Ready to get my career started... I got orientation Monday💪🏾💪🏾

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Welcome Ollie.

There is a lot of good advice available on the Trucking Truth website. Use the search bar (upper left-hand corner of the page) to access specific threads in the archives.

My initial suggestion is consider orientation a prolonged job interview. Stay focused and conduct yourself with professionalism.

Good luck!

You can find good and bad on just about any company but I believe a good driver willing to work hard can make a good experience even at a bad company. As said above stay focused and professional, somebody is always watching. Don't be afraid to ask questions or ask for help.
