My Swift recruiter called me this evening. Surprised me since it is Sunday. I have a couple forms to fill out and since I am a veteran it looks like my academy is going to be covered by Swift! YAY
Absolutely YAY! Yes the Vets deal is sweet: no deduction from you paycheck. I took that route, too. A heads up (I called to ask, this was my answer.) If you do stop driving (including doing some other job at Swift) before one year is up, the total tuition comes due and payable.
So do plan to stay OTR for the year. In that case, you'll have a smooth drive.
See you in Memphis!
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

WHether I stay at Swift of not I will stay the requisite year that has been my plan all along. I am setting it up for May 15. The wife and I were just talking about it and I am way more excited than I should be. lol.
